Dongxiao (Tony) Zhang, Ph.D.
Before co-founding Formurex, Dr. Zhang was the vice president and co-founder of Epitomics, Inc., a biotech company in Burlingame,
California. He is also the inventor of multiple technologies with multiple issued and pending patents and principle investigator of
several government-funded research projects. Prior to founding Epitomics in 2001, Dr. Zhang was a senior research scientist at Bayer
Corporation, leading a group in high throughput drug screening. Dr. Zhang has 13 years of experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical
industry. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio with Ph.D. of biochemistry, and did his postdoctoral
training in Genentech, Inc. He also graduated with honor in MBA from St. Mary’s College, California. Dr. Zhang is the President and
CEO, and Chairman of the Board.
Dr. Jasti is Chairman and Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Medicinal Chemistry, TJL School of Pharmacy & Health
Sciences, Univ. of the Pacific. Dr. Jasti is an author of 26 publications, numerous presentations and editor of 2 pharmaceutics books.
Dr. Jasti is an accomplished scholar in the controlled release technology and serving as a consultant for the pharmaceutical industry
for the past seven years, and completed 15 pharmaceutical contracts in drug development. He operates a big pharmaceutical research
laboratory with Dr. Xiaoling Li, where they co-advise a group of personnel that includes post-docs, visiting scholars, and graduate
students. Dr. Jasti is currently serving on the scientific advisory board of Aravasc, a biotechnology company and TransWorld Training
Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides training to pharmaceutical scientist in India. He serves as a member of the Board
of Directors of the company.
Dr. Li is Associate Dean of Graduate Education and Research of Thomas J Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and a Professor
of Pharmaceutics in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of the Pacific. Prior to his academic
career, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at Ciba-Geigy Corp (now Novartis). Dr. Li obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the
University of Utah in 1991, under the guidance of Dr. Sung Wan Kim. He received a BS in Pharmacy and a MS in Radiopharmacy from Shanghai
Medical University in 1982 and 1985, respectively. Dr. Li has research interests in the areas of novel polymers for pharmaceutical
and medical application, targeting drug delivery, drug transport through biological membranes, and application of physicochemical
concepts to dosage form design. Dr. Li works closely with the pharmaceutical industry and provides consultation and product development
services to various pharmaceutical companies. He holds two patents with three pending patent applications and has over 100 presentations,
book chapters, and research papers. Dr. Li serves as Chief Scientific Officer.
